Trail Running in the Austrian Alps

Where trail running dreams come true

Our guides believe that trail running should always be an adventure. However, adventure doesn’t inherently have to include risk or danger; that’s where we come in. It’s our job to prepare tours that are fun, safe, and most importantly, fit your party’s needs.

The terrain in and around Pinzgau is one of a kind and indeed world-class. In fact, many high-profile trail races take place here every year, including the Grossglockner Ultra Trail, the Hochkönigman, and the KAT 100Running in this landscape is an unforgettable and rewarding experience!

Do you want to push yourself in the mountains with the support of a qualified guide? Are you looking to improve your technical game on those steep descents? Or are you simply tired of stopping at traffic lights and running on asphalt in the city, and need a break from the noise? The guides at Trail Run Austria understand because we’ve all been there too. Join us for some of the most fun you can have on two legs, and for the lasting feeling of accomplishment that comes from moving efficiently in the mountains.

REQUIREMENTS

ABILITY

Experience running in variable terrain is important. However, if you’re used to running on roads and flat paths, you can still have a blast in the mountains. You will find it beneficial to warm up your legs, feet, and ankles for your trail running adventure by strengthening them with some basic strength exercises. We will be going over specific techniques before our outing, but the more prepared you are, the more fun you’ll have!

FITNESS

Having endurance and agility is key when running in variable terrain; and having ‘mountain legs’ is a bonus! Our trips are designed with flexibility in mind to suit your abilities and will be catered to your fitness level. We guide tours that stay entirely in mellow terrain as well as tours with 1000m+ elevation gain, and we love them all the same!

EQUIPMENT

Trail running is meant to be light and long, where you pack smart in order to be as efficient and safe as possible. You will need shoes with an excellent tread and the ankle support you require. Additionally, you will need ample nutrition and water, an extra change of clothes (including thin gloves and a hat), sun-cream, and a light rain jacket. Light hiking poles are also recommended as they are guaranteed to ease your troubles on the climbs and the descents! See our detailed equipment list for more information!
